Requirements to Obtain a Laser use Licence in Australia?
ARE YOU CONSIDERING GETTING A FULL LASER LICENSE?
Once you have completed the Theory and Practical activities, we can help you achieve the necessary 100 hours of supervised experience. We also assist with processing your application, ensuring you have the correct forms and sending them to the appropriate contacts.
Please note that as a QRH-licensed practice, we can only issue licenses within that jurisdiction. If you are in a different state, our training can still serve as a pathway. However, it is your responsibility to address any additional requirements that our training may not cover.
HERE ARE ALL THE STEPS AND REQUIREMENTS BASED ON YOUR LOCATION:
QUEENSLAND
Step 1: Obtain a Laser Safety Certificate and an Infection Prevention Control Certificate
Step 2: Apply for a Trainee Licence
Step 3: Complete a logbook of 100 supervised Tattoo Removal hours*
Step 4: Apply for Use Licence
WESTERN AUSTRALIA
Step 1: Obtain a Laser Safety Certificate and an Infection Prevention Control Certificate
Step 2: Tattoo Removal Fundamental Course
Step 3: Complete a logbook of 100 supervised Tattoo Removal hours*
Step 4: Apply for Use Licence
TASMANIA
Step 1: Tattoo Removal Fundamental Course
Step 2: Apply for Use Licence
Step 3: Apply for a Place Licence
NSW, SA, NT, VIC, ACT
No licensing requirements exist however, a Laser Safety Certificate is required to comply with laser standards and to secure insurance.
*Supervised hours must be conducted with an individual who holds a full Use Licence in the state of application
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION FOR TASMANIA
The current Automatic Mutual Recognition (AMR) policy came into effect on 1 July 2022. AMR has been designed so a person can work for short periods in a second jurisdiction using their equivalent (home jurisdiction) interstate licence.
Before the commencement of your work, you must provide the following:
Notification form to work in Tasmania under Automatic Mutual Recognition
Equivalent interstate radiation licence (the above form includes an option to upload your licence)
Jurisdictions that are currently participating in the Automatic Mutual Recognition for the purpose of radiation licensing are:
Australian Capital Territory
New South Wales
Northern Territory
South Australia
Tasmania
Victoria
Western Australia
